Pro tips: 4 steps to creating the perfect custom furniture and features
Grand Signature boasts an expert joinery division, and as such, we often meet clients who feel they lack the know-how to commission custom pieces. In fact, many people are unaware of the process involved in having a special feature made for their homes. As part of our Pro Tips series, we outline the 4 steps to making your bespoke furniture a reality.
Designing to spec
Our first step is to meet with the client to discuss the requirements of the job, the budget and the timeframe. Whether you have specific pieces of furniture in mind or would like to improve a room with a custom feature, our designers can recommend the best approach based on the existing style in the space. Our drafting team will then draw up the plans and present sketches for approval. At this stage, a client’s only job is to dream.
Material sourcing
Minimalist desks, ornate frames, upholstered seating, decorative mouldings, reinforced doors – for each custom feature there is a wide variety of materials to choose from. We make our recommendations for best quality and value, taking into consideration both traditional and non-traditional applications. Raw materials like solid woods and veneers are procured locally and imported from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Indian subcontinent to produce show-stopping pieces.
Fabrication
Woodwork is an art, and we have the artists. With many decades of experience ensuring the highest standards of execution, our joinery experts in Dubai and Sharjah begin the fabrication process. Thanks to our fully equipped facilities and state-of-the-art machinery, we can bring to life the most intricate details of your designs. Our wide network of suppliers also means we can ensure unique, quality accessories, stone inlays and steel fittings for each piece.
Installation
With the fabrication and detailing complete, your bespoke furnishings are installed. For more complex installations, certified joiners assemble the custom feature on site, guaranteeing the highest standards of safety and durability. After a final inspection, our experts provide valuable tips on maintenance and upkeep to ensure the long life of your unique custom piece.
